About Pricing, Ordering and Our Guarantees

Rough gemstones and man-made material are sold by the “carat” (weight). The price will vary depending on the type and quality of the material. Natural material can range from $0.50 to $150.00 a carat. Man-made rough can be as low as $0.06 up to $50.00 per carat, but it weighs two to three times more than the natural material. Keep in mind that that every stone is different, and the above formula for cutting is only a general guide. Please contact us for a precise estimate.

The Ordering Process

Select a gem from any of our Gemstone Gallery sections, or call us directly to discuss what you have in mind. We’ll confirm availability and give you a quote for the stone and/or cutting service you want.

Once a gemstone type, size, color and design have been selected, the buyer is responsible for paying for the rough material and half the labor cost up front. If you are providing a stone to us for cutting and polishing, you will need to submit payment for half of this cost in advance when you send us the stone.

If you wish to have us mount your gemstone in a setting, we will have a professional jeweler mount it. If jewelry setting is part of the package, that portion is to be paid by the customer at the start of the project.

After our project is complete, we will email photos of the finished product to you. If you are satisfied with the gemstone and/or jewelry, we will make arrangements for the final payment, which is due in advance of shipping your finished stone.

Our gemstones are of the highest quality and guaranteed to be cut to your satisfaction.

If you are not completely satisfied with your order, you may return it for a full refund within 15 days. The item must be returned to Ashton Gems in the exact condition it was shipped to you. Any returned product that has been modified will not be accepted. Ashton Gems must be notified first before you can make a return, and you will be given a return ID number.
